THE WDHI STORY
It’s personal to us because buying a home is personal to you.
In 2005, in the small town of Tooele, Utah, our founder started a modest home inspection company with the goal of providing the best home inspection experience for each homebuyer. He noticed that the real estate industry was treating the home inspection process a lot like the appraisal process: Show up, Inspect, Send Report. This was very impersonal and provided no additional information aside from what was already in the report. There is so much more to a home than just the defects that were found during the inspection.
He began inviting homebuyers and realtors to a walk through once he completed inspecting the home. By doing this, he was able to show the homebuyer the areas of concern, provided solutions to each issue, and answered any questions that the client may have had. He discovered that most home buyers had very little knowledge about the home that they were about to purchase. He then decided it was in everyone’s best interest to educate the homebuyer about the systems of the home as well. Where are the water shut off and gas valves? Where are the furnace filters and how and when to change them? How to operate the thermostats etc.
What he found was that the clients began to really understand the home in a much more comprehensive view than simply reading a report that contained only the defects of the home.
As word began to spread about this revolutionary way of performing home inspections, the business began to grow quickly. The company became the largest home inspection company within the state of Utah.
In 2014, the company expanded into the Las Vegas, Nevada market, where our home inspection process was welcomed with open arms. In 2018, Southern Utah, Northern Arizona and Pahrump, Nevada were added to our service areas.
In 2020, by forming a new company - WDHI, our founder’s vision to provide the best home inspection process countrywide has come to fruition by opening additional company markets and offering franchises to those that want to be involved with our success.
